Merchandise

Within the (admittedly poorly named) Merch section we hope to create a database of everything that has been ever been sold or given away by the Beastie Boys or their affiliated endeavors. If you'll collect it, we'll archive it. We hope to give the Merchandise section a depth equal to our Discography or Gigography so please contact us if we're missing something (which we know we are).

Title: Real Adidas Shoes
Year: 2004
Section: Misc.
Dimensions:
Notes: These were to be released as part of the Adidas 35th Anniversary Superstar series, but they were not made available to the public. Only ten pairs were made, of which the Beastie Boys own all of them, except one pair that was auctioned on eBay for the JMJ Foundation. These came in a signed box.

In an interview with Emmanuel Ronchi (from Adidas) talking about the Music Series (35.5 model): "With the Beastie Boys' extensive support on the Adidas Superstar, we had contacted them when the project began in January 2004. However, due to the band's tight schedule, we eventually lost communication with each other. 10 months later when all 35 designs had already been finalized and put into production, I ran into the band during their tour in Germany, and we came up with the idea of creating a set of apparel for their world tour. Since they are from New York, no other SS35 models but New York City would best represent the band. This resulted in the Beastie Boys Superstar, we termed it the 35.5 SS35 model, and track suit. Only 10 pairs of these Superstar's were made."

These are also fake versions of these sneakers.

A big thanks to Crooked Tongues, Sneaks4Freaks and Snapman for the info and pics.

Title: Inpress February 2005
Year: 2005
Section: Magazines
Dimensions:
Notes: Printed in Melbourne, Australia.
Here is the condensed version of the cover design story by From Lyndon Wade:
For each Big Day Out festival issue, Inpress magazine holds a competition for readers to illustrate the cover with one of the bands playing as the subject. Thinking about what to do, I wanted to capture the Beastie Boys alter egos, and their constant costume changes reminded me of Lego figures.
Mike D as Country Mike (from Country Mike’s Greatest Hits)
MCA as seen in Intergalactic video
Adrock as Vic Colfari playing Bobby ‘The Rookie’ (from the Sabotage video)
The Melbourne city background is a nod to the To The Five Boroughs (2004) album cover illustration of New York, with the Rialto Towers in place of the twin towers of the World Trade Center, as well as a celebration of the Beastie Boys arrival to Melbourne.
I did not know I had won until I picked up a copy from the shop. My prize included tickets to the Big Day Out and 30 CD’s from various groups playing at the festival, but the highlight was getting a copy signed by Adrock and MCA.
