Before the end of Grand Royal Records
came, Kut Masta Kurt lent his skills to some of the best
Grand Royal artist remixes out there for the Beastie Boys,
Hurricane, Buffalo Daughter,
and Luscious Jackson.
That gives you an idea of just how active he was moonlighting
for the people at G-Son.
When not working on Grand Royal remixes
Kurt himself doing a great deal of producing. Kurts
production credits include Dilated Peoples hit "Work
the Angles", and songs for Planet Asia, Rasco and Chino
XL. Hes also has remixes released by Blackalicious
and DJ Spooky to name a few. However, this producer may
be best known for his work on Kool Keiths Dr. Octagon,
Sex Style, DR. Dooom, Black Elvis, and Matthew albums. However
if Kurts stock was measured by the number of remix request
he gets it would make just about any Fortune 500 Company
blush. Kurts resume' starts back in 1990 with Tim Dogs"
F--K Compton" remix. The Funky Redneck aka Kut Masta
Kurt along with Kool-Keith and their production team known
as the Diesel Truckers is also responsible for one of Rap
Musics most successful independent releases of 1999,"First
Come, First Served" by Keiths alias DR. Dooom.
Instead of always doing for others,
Kurt has put his name on an album full of his own material:
Presents Masters of Illusion. Kurt doesn't stray
far for lyrical reinforcment as he plucks dysfuctional associates
Kool-Keith and bay area bomber Motion Man to help him out
on this release. Kurt's own label Threshold Recordings is
the home now of these hip hop legends.
