For those that do not own the DVD and don't automatically recognize Jon's name, Egon and Jon Doe put together a remix of "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" which has been a fan favorite. If you have ever been curious about how the remixes on the Beastie Boys Video Anthology were selected or how they came into existence, you are in the same company as beastiemania.com, who caught up with Jon Doe and asked him to elaborate on how things came together. "I didn't know them (the Beastie Boys) personally at all. Basically I was brought into the fold through Egon, my partner in crime while we were both living in Nashville, TN. He had known Tick for a while via college radio and what not. When the DVD project began forming, Tick called Egon and Count Bass D, a Nashville MC with whom Egon had previously DJ'd for and also did a radio show with. Tick wanted to see if they were interested in remixing a track each for the DVD. Egon ended up going with "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" and Count Bass D picked "Hey Ladies." Egon didn't really have all of his equipment set up and I had my studio up and going full force, so he asked Tick if he could bring me on to help with the remix. At the time, Egon and I had been doing a lot of things collectively. He really looked out for me and helped me be part of a very important and large project. I was really excited."

Following their work on the Beastie Boys Video Anthology DVD, Egon went on to work for Stones Throw Records in Los Angeles, California. Jon Doe stayed in the deep south and continued to work within hip hop music production. Currently, Jon resides in Atlanta, GA, where he is a DJ and producer for the Atlanta hip-hop group Prophetix, which consists of MC's Eddie Meeks and Mello Melanin. Prophetix released a 12" single in 2001 entitled "True Urban Grit (T.U.G.)" b/w "Prophetionals" in late August 2001, which did extremely well in Japan and overseas, and landed on radio shows such as Friday Night Flavas in LA, Bobbito's CM Famalam Show and mix shows across the world. Their new LP, "HIGH RISK," was released in August of 2002. The album features MF DOOM, DJ Cheapshot, and a host of others on the production side of things. On the vocal side of things one can expect to hear guest appearances from Scienz of Life, Stahhr Da F.E.M.C.E.E. and the Lost-n-Found Dept. In addition to his work with Prophetix, Jon also still DJs at clubs in the south and puts out mix tapes/CDs. Bringing it back to the topic of the Beastie Boys, Jon speaks about his work on the DVD: "Although we never met the Beasties, or even talked to them, it would be nice, Hopefully that will happen one day. Regardless, it was a great experience which brought me great exposure and something I am very proud to have been a part of. I never thought that when I bought Licensed to Ill at a Wal-Mart in 1986 that I would one day be remixing a Beasties track. I still have a hard time comprehending it sometimes!"
