That really was not a fair question since the award show was held on February 24th, 1987, and to be eligible for an award the album/song in question would have had to have been released between October 1, 1985 and September 30th, 1986. Now obviously the Beastie Boys had put out some material in that window, but Licensed to Ill was just gaining steam in the U.S.A. in November 1986 and it wasn't until February 1987 that things were really on fire for the band. For those that are interested this Grammy Award show was held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA and broadcast on the CBS televison station. |
