"This is one of my favorite Dust Brothers productions." - Mike Diamond on Paul's Boutique-20th Anniversary Edition audio commentary, 2009

"Written after the Dust Brothers had purchased their first sampler, 'Car Thief' makes liberal use of the 1975 cut 'Rien Ne Va Plus,' the standout composition of the Polish-American fusion band Funk Factory. That tune's samples were sped up and a guitar lick from Funkadelic's 1970 freak-out 'I Bet You' was grafted to the bridges, creating a simple but effective piece of work." - excerpted from the 33 1/3 Series book Paul's Boutique by Dan LeRoy, 2006
