Questions and Answers:
The Check Your Head Cast of Characters
What makes all the Beastie Boys' albums enjoyable to listen to is that they all exhibit different styles of music. One can listen to an album and hear the variety in the songs. Check Your Head is no different, as the styles of the music ebb and flow with each passing track. One of the reasons for the variety in the music is the cast of characters that the Beastie Boys surround themselves with. Up to and during the recording of Check Your Head, such people as Money Mark, Mario Caldato Jr., DJ Hurricane, the Biz Markie, and a slew of others influenced the recording of the music either by being present in the studio, G-Son, or being in the lives of the Beastie Boys, such as Tamra Davis or Ione Skye. These people left an indelible mark on the sound of Check Your Head and have been immortalized in the liner notes. Inspired by the liner notes of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band we have created a key to each person/thing in the liner notes collage. It is recommended that you get out your copy, as the diagram below is a bit small to see the details.
