Farn Review by Jaysen Chambers:
Before the Beastie Boys took the stage at the United Center in Chicago on Thursday night, November 4th, they performed a Secret Session for about 100 lucky fans.
Local Chicago radio station Q101 sponsored this exclusive event. In order to gain access, listeners had to be caller 11 after hearing a Beastie Boys song. The location of the event was kept secret and shared only with the winners 2 days before the event.
The Secret Session was held at The Metro, which is a small club a few blocks from Wrigley Field. The Metro does have some Beastie-related history. BS2000 performed there in 2001, and they hosted a Hello Nasty listening party in 1998. The Secret Session was not in the main venue, but on the fourth floor in a private room used for rehearsals and private functions.
The Beasties performed "Sure Shot," "Right Right Now Now," and "Ch-Check It Out." It was a relaxed energy, the way I would imagine a soundcheck or rehearsal to be.
After the short performance, there was a question-and-answer session with the audience. The Beasties definitely spiced this with their very special brand of humor. After the Q&A, they immediately left for their soundcheck at the United Center. |
