Awesome. Yes, I had a GREAT time. I never really cared for LJ too much, yet I never hated them. The main reason I went was to see the Eels (who were supposed to open!!!). Instead we got screwed over with 2 other openers. First opener was Joseph Arthur, a shitty solo-acoustic act, he's pretty bad in my opinion. Next was Pet, a DECENT band with a chick singer. I wouldn't get their cd, but I didn't mind them too much. The greatest part was my recording worked this time! If you read the 1/29/97 Smashing Pumpkins review you'll know why I was so pissed. I got the whole LJ performance on tape, and I tried taping Pet, but I bumped the wrong button in the dark. Yes, I'm learning slowly. Back to the show review... Luscious Jackson opened with "Here" off of 'Natural Ingredients'. They put on a very exciting show, Jill was all over the stage, Vivian had a constant smile, Kate's drums were great, Gabby provided great backing vocals and guitar work. They played pretty much everything I wanted to hear (Here, Electric, Angel, Naked Eye, Under Your Skin, City Song, Why Do I Lie?). Oh, I didn't mention I went to the show myself, my friend backed out at the last minute, and again I still had a great time. The lighting was also great, plus they kept the crowd going with the music, Jill said something between nearly every song. The only drawback was probably they only had 1 encore, which is better than nothing, but I've been seeing 2, 3, even 4 encores lately! Not expecting much out of this concert, I was completely shocked, and I would definitely go see LJ again.
